Sunday, October 3rd will be a special day at Garden Station. It’s true that local art and produce are not something new to find here. The space at 4th Street and Wayne Avenue is already home to 13 “urban farmers” throughout the growing season and everywhere you look there are different works of art. There are colorful murals that adorn the 600′ of wall space, sculptures dotted throughout the two acre lot, and whimsical touches such as the wooden man and the toilet planter and even the garden shed itself with its colorful bottle wall. However on Sunday, October 3rd you can take some of the local art and produce home with you during the first ever Garden Station Sunday Market and Harvest Festival.
There are already lots of farmer’s markets in the area, but nothing on Sunday, and Garden Station would mix it with local artists and crafters that you often see at Circus events. So far the line up includes fiber arts, vegetable plants, free range eggs, glass art, fresh vegetables, homemade jams, locally made color cosmetics, jewelry, bird houses and more. Local acoustic musicians “The Corndrinkers” will also entertain during the market, which will run from noon until 3pm. Garden Station hopes to make this a regular weekly event next season.

City of Dayton Curbside Leaf Pick-Up Changing
to “Bagged” Collection Service.

Look for Home Mailer with Coupon for FREE Leaf Bags!

An important change will affect the way Dayton residents dispose of leaves this fall. The City of Dayton is moving from its traditional leaf collection system to a “bagged” collection service. Please read the following Q & A’s for more details. A printed flier is also being mailed to Dayton homeowners with this information. Look for a coupon in the mailer that entitles you to 10 free biodegradable leaf collection bags.

How is My Leaf Collection Process Changing?
City of Dayton crews have traditionally used large leaf collection trucks to pick up leaves that have been raked loosely to the curb line. This practice has now been discontinued to help control costs. Beginning with this fFall’s leaf collection season, residents must place leaves in 100 percent biodegradable bags (plastic not accepted) and set the bags at the curb line (on the tree lawn) during the scheduled collection cycles outlined below.
