Contractor Referral Listing..... Those of us who own historic houses know that we can put off home improvement projects for only so long. And, while there are smaller projects that we can tackle ourselves, there are those that we just can’t D-I-Y. But, whom do we hire? Are those companies listed in the yellow pages as good as their ads say they are? As neighbors in the largest historic district in the area we can share our experiences with each other. We’re in the middle of developing a “lowtech database” – but we need your help! Now you can download a copy of an information sheet that you can fill out describing a company or contractor that you’ve hired and your opinion of how you think the job went. Was the final product satisfactory? Was the price fair? Would you hire the company/contractor again? We’ll collect these forms and compile a folder that can be accessed by all South Park residents. You’ll be able to look up a company you’re thinking of hiring, or even see if anyone has recommended a company for a job that you need done. This list will be available at every HSPI general meeting. For those of you who might not make it to the next meeting, don’t despair! The “low-tech database” will be available to everyone, but in person and by appointment only. Contact Robert at webmaster (at) historicsouthpark.org to set up a time to review your neighbors' inputs. You can download the form as a PDF or a Word document. You can e-mail the Word document back or print it out and bring it to the next meeting. If you use the PDF, fill it out on your computer, then print it and bring it to a meeting. When you print the form out, please remember to make enough copies to put one under each type of work selected and the name of the company. For example, if you had your roof and gutters repaired by the same company, you will need three copies: one for the company name, one for roof work, and one for gutter work.
