    HSPI CALL TO ARMS
HSPI wants you. All members are called upon, not to bear arms, but to arm yourself with your share of responsibility for the state of the neighborhood. HSPI is organizing to better serve our community by returning the organization to the committee-driven focus of the past.

All members are asked to pledge at least five hours per year through one of the "interest groups" described below:

Home Tour--Members work to organize and execute our next home tour. Contact Ann Poliquin at 223-3400 or Morgan Howard at 223-9581 or email them both at hometour (at) historicsouthpark.org.

Housing and Development--Members focus on bringing outside investors and businesses into South Park's residential and business districts. The group will designate a liaison to the business districts. Members will also work to reduce blighted properties and environmental problems, such as trash and graffiti. For housing code related issues, contact Cheryl Bates at 222-0706, and for development-related issues, contact Dave Poliquin at 223-3400, or email them both at housing (at) historicsouthpark.org.

Marketing and Fundraising--Members will market South Park through news exposure, the web site, and other innovative ways. The group will be involved in fundraising and grant writing for neighborhood improvements. Contact Maureen Heacock at 228-3783 or marketing (at) historicsouthpark.org.

Anti-Crime--Members will work to communicate crime alerts to the neighborhood, maintain Community Based Police, lobby to eliminate the Sheriff's Early Release Program, work with DMHA to resolve crime-related problems at Cliburn Manor, and perform other crime reduction activities. Contact Lisa Persons for more information.

Parks--Members will work to improve and maintain the public parks of the neighborhood. Contact Phyllis Tonne at 225-9524 or parks (at) historicsouthpark.org for more information.

Social--Members will plan, organize and advertise social events in South Park. Contact Tiffi Angus-Bodie at social (at) historicsouthpark.org.

Neighborhood Outreach--Members will identify and bank community resources to assist in meeting the needs of our neighbors. Contact Cheryl Bates at outreach (at) historicsouthpark.org.

Please choose your interest group and phone (or email) the HSPI officer listed as the contact. Be proactive and do this today! It will allow your HSPI officers to spend time working on their other neighborhood responsibilities, rather than phoning members to fill the interest groups.
