An important change will affect the way Dayton residents dispose of leaves this fall. The City of Dayton is moving from its traditional leaf collection system to a “bagged” collection service. Please read the following Q & A’s for more details. A printed flier is also being mailed to Dayton homeowners with this information. How is My Leaf Collection Process Changing?
City of Dayton crews have traditionally used large leaf collection trucks to pick up leaves that have been raked loosely to the curb line. This practice has now been discontinued to help control costs. Beginning with this fFall’s leaf collection season, residents must place leaves in 100 percent biodegradable bags (plastic not accepted) and set the bags at the curb line (on the tree lawn) during the scheduled collection cycles outlined below.
How Often Will My Bagged Leaves be Collected?
Similar to past years, each neighborhood will receive two leaf collection cycles. The leaf pick up cycles are based upon your regular waste collection day as outlined here.
