Historic South Park was honored by its friends, neighbors as well as representatives of the City of Dayton and Montgomery County on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10AM. Speakers were City Commissioner Nan Whaley and 28-year resident of South Park and preservationist Pam Miller Howard. All the TV channels and the Dayton Daily News covered the Groundbreaking Ceremony. In attendance were representatives from our City Commission including the Mayor and the Montgomery County Commission. The City Manager made an appearance as did members of the Dayton Development Coalition, Dayton Police higher-ups along with our own Community Based officers. It was great to seem so many friends and former neighbors and activist join the celebration. The theme of the ceremony was thanking and praising the individual the ongoing efforts of each and every one of you. And along with the extolling of individual efforts, we extend a very, very special thanks to our philanthropic investors, The Home Group and Full Circle who continue to make it safe for others to invest and who tirelessly promote Historic South Park.
