Block by block, there are so many wonderful, involved neighbors living in Historic South Park it’s amazing. That’s why we love it. But there are still rental properties whose absent owners rent to individuals without doing a background check or keeping an eye on their property. The perfect situation for someone with a criminal background or drug activity.

The City of Dayton is holding Landlord Tenant Training, Weds, Nov. 17, 8-4 at Sinclair Community College, Building 12. It’s FREE to attend. Landlords will learn about applicant screening, ongoing management, warning signs of illegal activity, eviction, how to work with police and information about Section 8.

If you have a problem property on your block, go to the Montgomery County Real Estate page to find the address of the owner, print out this flyer to Landlord Tenant Training, and send it to the landlord with a letter urging them to keep problems out of our neighborhood.  After all, they are liable in many problem situations!  Additionally, it’s in their best financial interests to find stable tenants! The trainer himself, John Campbell,  has personal experience combating drug activity in residential neighborhoods. This is a nationally recognized course.

Got a stamp? It’s worth five minutes of your time to mail this off to the owner of any problem property you are concerned about. And THANK YOU for being a wonderful, caring South Park resident. Keep fighting the good fight!
