Postponed: Night Walk in South Park with Dayton Police

17 May

While this date was postponed due to weather, please check back for the rescheduled date! Thank you.

***
On May 24th, the Dayton Police will hold a night walk in Historic South Park. Everyone is invited to meet at 8:30 PM in the Hope Lutheran Church parking lot (500 Hickory). From there, we will complete a walk around the South Park neighborhood. Expect this walk to last until approximately 10:30 PM.

The purpose of the walk is to examine the lighting in the neighborhood to determine where it needs improvement—with the ultimate goal of reducing crime. Also, other opportunities for security improvement will be pointed out throughout our walk.

This is an example of the police and neighborhood working together to achieve a higher degree of safety and security for all. This effort is not being done in anticipation of obtaining money from the City for lighting (although the Oregon Historic District has had great success obtaining mini-grants for lighting their area and their efforts started with a similar walk).
