More good news for the Great South Park Tot Lot Project! In December, the Montgomery County Solid Waste District awarded the neighborhood a grant in the amount of $3,768.75  for benches (made of recycled material, of course), trash receptacles and playground equipment. The grant administrators were very impressed with the plans for the Tot Lot fence mural project as well, and suggested that we ask school-age children to enter the Beautiful Montgomery County Poetry contest. Thank you to Hilary Browning, who spent over twenty hours on this project.

We hope you’ve followed the progress of the Tot Lot project this year, which has been funded by a $2,000 City of Dayton mini-grant, hundreds of dollars of in-kind donations, coordinatred and  implemented by hundreds of hours of volunteer labor and sweat, and the fence building skills of  Mark Allen and Tim Hemmelgarn who worked for free. I think I see a big celebration ice cream social happening in the Tot Lot next summer!
