Parks Committee Plants Eight Trees for Earth Day with Volunteers from Building Together Dayton

Volunteers honored Earth Day in South Park April 24th by weeding the garden beds in the Alberta pocket park and the 200 block of Park Drive, and planting 5 trees in Blommel Park as well as one on Hickory Street. Co-Chairs of the Parks Committee Winter Rowley and Mark Allen were delighted to have eight volunteers from Building Together Dayton show up at 8:30am on a drizzly morning and help clean up and green up the neighborhood. It only took two hours to accomplish much.

The Parks Committee picks a different green space every Saturday morning, weather permitting. If you’d like to get some weekly fresh air, exercise and camraderie, check the Historic South Park Facebook Fan Page late Friday for the announcement of where to show up Saturday.
